Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back, and the “no-sex sex comedies” of the 1960s are the inspiration for this 2003 rom-com starring Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger. Often starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day, the films would typically follow a career woman advocating for more female independence and less emphasis on romance going up against a lothario — Down With Love is no exception.
