Breanna Stewart almost re-signed with the Seattle Storm when she hit free agency ahead of the 2023 season.
But the Liberty, namely the team’s leadership captained by owner Clara Wu Tsai, convinced her to move to New York.
And the rest is history.
Two seasons after forming a superteam, anchored by Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones, the Liberty won the franchise’s first WNBA title in 2024. The hope is the WNBA Finals trophy is the first of many that will fill the team’s trophy case.
