Break out the Belmont Jewels; the final race in the Triple Crown is finally here.
For the second year in a row, the Belmont Stakes will not take place at Belmont, but rather 190 miles north at Saratoga Race Course. Belmont Park is currently in the midst of a $455 million renovation project that is not slated to end until fall 2026, three months after next year’s Belmont Stakes.
The current favorites to win this year’s Belmont Stakes are Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty, who did not race in the Preakness, therefore won’t have a chance to complete the Triple Crown; and Preakness Stakes winner Journalism.
