Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Beckon ‘Live’ EP Michael Gelman On Camera To Complain The Teleprompter Screen Is Too Dark: “Can You See That Actually?”

Live with Kelly and Mark EP Michael Gelman got some extra camera time on Tuesday’s episode — thanks to the teleprompter.

Toward the end of their host chat this morning, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were introducing the episode’s upcoming segments when Consuelos appeared like he was struggling to read his next line.

“Plus, we will see who won the trip to Mexico when we announce the winner of Predict the Winners Ballot Game,” he announced, honing his focus in on an area around the camera.

Ripa and Consuelos both pointed toward the teleprompter, as they beckoned Gelman to come see what they were seeing.

“I gotta tell you. Can we roll back that teleprompter?” Ripa asked. “Gelman, come here. I want you to see this… You know you like to be on camera.”

After being asked if he could “see” what was written on the teleprompter, Gelman began reading aloud Consuelos’ line.

While Consuelos noted that the screen was “very dark,” Ripa added to Gelman, “We know you know what it says. But can you see that actually?”

Gelman admitted, “Yeah no, it’s a little dark.”

As Ripa proposed that they maybe “bring up” the brightness on the screen, viewers caught a glimpse of the teleprompter screen, which featured legible blue text on a black background. However, they noticed that the screen looked brighter on camera as opposed to in real life, leading Ripa to tease the crew for capturing this convincing angle.

“You guys are so full of S. Stop it,” Ripa joked. “‘Let me get the angle so it looks bright.’ No, with eyeballs, not camera lens, it’s impossible to see.”
