Max Kranick’s Mets chance means the world after long, winding baseball journey

PORT ST. LUCIE — The journey back to this spot has been a long one for Max Kranick, but he has a puncher’s chance of making the Mets roster.

Kranick, 27, has not pitched in the majors since 2022.

That’s when, while playing for the Astros, he underwent Tommy John surgery that sidelined him the entire 2023 season.

The Mets then signed him last offseason, and he hoped to earn a spot in the rotation, but a hamstring injury during spring training quickly derailed those plans.
