Watch Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 Trailer

The HBO post-apocalyptic series returns April 13

“Every path has a price,” the new trailer for The Last Of Us Season Two warns, and one of the costs appears to be any relative peace there was between Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

The ominous new clip includes monsters, mayhem, violence, and plenty of fire. It opens with Ellie carefully navigating a dark glass-strewn floor, before it flashes to a man’s arm that sports a broken watch and a scene from a cemetery with crosses draped with medallions.

In another scene, as Ellie and Joel are walking through an ominous forest, Joel asks “You OK?” Ellie responds, “Yeah,” but it’s clear she has apprehensions. The tensions continue as Joel is seen at the settlement in Jackson, Wyoming, where he and Ellie have lived for five years since Season One left off. And while the locale looks peaceful in an overhead shot of the snowy mountain town, scenes featuring monsters, troops, battles, and explosions and gunfire follow. The trailer also features new characters, including Jesse, portrayed by Young Mazino; and Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever.

As the intense trailer and music builds, Ellie defiantly tells Joel, “You swore,” appearing to reference a promise unkept. Joel does not respond, concluding on a climactic moment in an already tension-packed clip.

Other new cast joining Season Two include Isabela Merced who plays  Dina, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle portrays Nora, Spencer Lord stars as Owen, Danny Ramirez portrays Manny, and Jeffrey Wright plays Isaac. Catherine O’Hara will also guest star. The Last of Us Season Two premieres April 13 via HBO.
