Sperry’s iconic boat shoes have long been a style staple for men, but the silhouette has been flipped on its head sole to become a statement womenswear piece in recent years too, embraced by stars like Blake Lively and Ella Emhoff.
Now, Sperry takes the boat-shoes-for-women trend one step further with a new collaboration with trendy retailer Aritzia, which reimagines the classic boat shoes with a flirty and feminine silhouette.
Released March 11, the Sperry x Aritzia collection features two new exclusive styles: the Sperry x Aritzia Slim Boat Shoe and the Sperry x Aritzia Authentic Original 2-Eye Boat Shoe.
The Slim Boat shoe is a sleek and refined take on the original loafer, with a narrower toe and tonal stitching. The Aritzia logo is embossed on the tongue, while the Sperry and Aritzia wordmarks are printed into the footbed. Choose from a brown leather or light brown suede colorway.
The Authentic Original, meantime, is a women’s version of the classic boat shoe, with the signature two-eyelet flap, contrast-color stitching, rawhide laces and Sperry’s razor cut “Wave-Siping” outsole for traction, whether you’re out sailing or on dry land. The Authentic Original Boat Shoe is available in brown or tan leather.
Both shoes come with three pairs of laces (that you can swap out to personalize your look), along with a re-lacing needle, dust-bag and co-branded shoebox. The Sperry x Aritzia boat shoes retail for $120 at Aritzia.com and come in women’s sizes 5 to 11. Sizes are moving quickly though so we recommend picking up a pair while your size and preferred model is still in stock.
This is an officially-licensed collaboration between Sperry and Aritzia and offered in limited quantities. In a press release, the brands say the collab bridges “Sperry’s signature nautical roots with Aritzia’s ‘Everyday Luxury’ aesthetic,” to reimagine the boat shoe in a “fresh, contemporary lens.” Lookbook photos see models pairing the shoes with everything from preppy shorts and sweaters, to wide-leg dresses and skirts.
As Sperry notes, “the partnership is a perfect fusion of heritage and modernity, bringing fresh versatility to an enduring icon.” Shop the collection here.
