The trade of Luka Doncic to the Lakers has inspired no shortage of hot takes, shocked faces, and, of course, memes. The three-team trade involved the Utah Jazz, several players, and a number of future draft picks, but the big headline is that Luka Doncic will don purple and gold in Los Angeles and Anthony Davis will play in Dallas.
Whether or not the trade will be good for the Lakers or Mavericks on the court, it’ll be good for the Lakers’ bottom line. That’s because Doncic Lakers jerseys have flown off the shelves, with all sizes currently sold out on the NBA website. Likewise, stubs for the first possible meeting of Davis and Doncic on their new teams sold out quickly, and are reselling for nearly double or triple what other games during the same week at the same venue cost.

When Will the Lakers Play the Mavericks?
The first meeting between the Lakers and Mavericks since the Doncic-Davis trade is slated for Feb. 25, and will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles. The teams’ next meeting will be on April 9 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
As for whether or not Doncic will be fit to play by Feb. 25, that remains an open question, as the superstar player has been sidelined with a calf injury. In a press conference, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka said, “I will truly say that at this point, he’s day to the day, we’re going to take it one step at a time.” Likewise, Davis did not play against the 76ers during Tuesday’s Mavs road game following an abdominal strain.
