PEORIA, Ariz. — One American League executive said he hears Dylan Cease, the star Padres right-hander, isn’t going anywhere in trade.
Yet another says he hears it’s “50-50.”
These wildly divergent estimates are merely guesses, of course. But it’s probably safe to think the reality is somewhere between these two figures — between zero and 50 percent.
Cease, a veteran of the trade block at 29, said it feels like he has a decent chance to stay in San Diego. “But it’s baseball,” he said. “Anything can happen.”
